Themen

In the lower and middle school, regional and cultural studies at Waldorf schools are “done” rather than taught. At the start of the upper school, how can we guide our students in examining these topics in a more conscious way, thus helping them develop critical thinking?

In this seminar, we will be looking at different contents and teaching methods that nurture students’ appreciation for different cultures, at the same time accepting that “people are people”, no matter where they are or originally come from.

Creative ways of introducing and practicing grammar topics will also be touched upon.

Dozenten

Kyra Michaelis studied English, Musicology and History at Frankfurt and Keele (Staffordshire, England), earned her M.A. from Frankfurt University and trained as a singer. After gaining some experience in journalism and publishing, she worked in Human Resources for ten years. From 2002 to 2004 she studied Waldorf Education at the Akademie für Waldorfpädagogik in Mannheim, to then teach English at class levels 6 to 13 at the FWS Darmstadt until 2016. Since autumn 2016 she has been teaching English at the Akademie für Waldorfpädagogik and the Institut für Waldorfpädagogik (Alanus Hochschule) in Mannheim. Her main responsibility lies with the "Sprachlehrerseminar".
